Wyckoff Police Chief David Murphy, who started as a dispatcher before being hired as a patrolman in 1996 and rose to lieutenant while also serving 25 years as a volunteer firefighter, was promoted to chief in October 2016 after his predecessor's suspension over a racial-profiling finding.
